WEEKDAY RUNNING SCHEDULE
Monday, Wednesday, and Friday meets @ 6am at Centennial Park downtown Venice Fla.
The runs are roughly one hour and cover 3-6 miles depending upon one's experience and pace.
There are usually about three pace groups plus those who choose to walk or run/walk(a perfect way to get started running.) NO ONE IS LEFT BEHIND!
The age range is twenty-something to 80 plus. Experience ranges from walkers to runners who have completed anywhere from a 5k race to well over 100 marathons.
Getting acquainted is easy since hospitality is the runner's hallmark. And, of course many of the V-Pack head to a local coffee shop after each morning run where the Table of Nowlege convenes to debate weighty issues such as why few runners wear a certain type of shoe!
Most V-Packers are members of the Manasota Track Club (MTC) and, on weekends we do longer runs in Venice. Or, on Saturday, we often travel to Sarasota to run (or walk) with the larger Sarasota MTC group over the Ringling Bridge. Start is either at the school corner Webber Rd and Osprey Rd or at Marina Jack's.
You are invited to just show up at Venice Centennial Park any Monday, Wednesday or Friday morning at 6:00AM.

Saturday Long Runs:
V-Packers generally meet at Centennial Park on Saturdays beginning at 6am. More than likely you will find someone running from the park at 6am on a Saturday.
WEEKDAY CORE/SPEED WORKOUT SCHEDULE changes from week to week. V-Packers have been known to show up at 6:30Am on Tuesdays or Thursdays @ Boys and Girls Club of Venice, 920 Gulf Coast Drive, Venice Florida
If you are interested in doing speed on Tuesdays or Thursdays it is best to show up sometime Monday, Wednesday or Friday at Centennial park at 6am during our weekly training runs to see if any of the V-Packers will be meeting at the track! There is no fee for the class and participants may join the workouts at any time throughout the year.
NOTHING HERE IS SET IN STONE in the workout schedule and the day/schedule WORKOUT CAN VARY BUT AN EXAMPLE CAN BE THE FOLLOWING:
Typically, the workout begins with a lap or two around the track for warm up. Some may stay on the track for speed work and to practice pacing techniques.
Meanwhile, others will elect to participate in various Yoga stretches followed by core body exercises such as sit ups and other abdominal muscle routines. Core also includes strength building with push ups, hand weights, "plank" routines and the beloved Wall Sit.
The workout session is about one hour and no one is required to meet any numerical quantity criteria. Participants set their own goals and we have learned that our workout partners push themselves more than enough to meet their own goals.
Sound intimidating? Yes and no! It is totally challenging for those who are aiming for personal records. However, those just beginning or with different goals simply dial in their own effort levels and repetition numbers to fit their specific personal goal. All you need to do is show up and make a commitment to give it your best effort. It works!
